We test everything right in front of you using professional tools, including our XRF device for metal analysis.
We explain each step as we go– there’s no rush and no pressure. If you choose to sell, we issue payment on the spot by cheque or e-transfer.
By law, you must be at least 18 years of age and present a proper form of identification. At MINTY we respect your privacy and will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization. Your privacy is extremely important to us and we do all we can to earn and protect that trust.
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Silver plated is a silver coating on top of either brass, copper or lead.
We purchase sterling silver, however we do not purchase silver plated items. If you are unsure, give us a call before making your appointment and we can guide you over the phone or email a photo of your items. Silver plated items can be recycled at AIM.
Gold, silver and platinum are non-magnetic. Many gold-plated items have a core of nickel or iron, which is magnetic. Therefore a magnet can be used to determine if your item is nickel or iron, with a thin plating of gold.
Please note: Some gold-plated items contain a brass core, which is not magnetic.
MINTY determines and purchases the gold and silver value only. Gemstones are returned to each client if they wish to keep them or we offer a few other options to suit the clients best wishes.
For repurposing gemstones we work with and can refer clients to local Burlington jeweller David Jockheck and for appraisals on higher end items clients are welcome to our complimentary appraisal clinic led by S. Taylor Appraisal on the last Saturday of each month.
Clients are paid on the spot (if they choose to sell) through e-transfer or by cheque – the choice is always the client’s.
Yes, we purchase all broken, unworn and orphaned (missing it’s pair) gold and silver jewellery.
90% of the product we purchase is melted down and re-sold back to the Royal Canadian Mint. We always ensure that our clients are ready to let go of their pieces before this process occurs.
We begin with an interactive presentation on how we test your precious metals. We will then meet with each attendee, evaluate their gold and silver jewellery.
Each attendee will be provided with a detailed written evaluation of their items. If they wish to sell, we will purchase on the spot.

Yes we do! MINTY is located in downtown Burlington at 496 Brant St. (on the corner of Caroline St. & Brant St.). We have free parking located in the back of our building for clients which can be accessed through Caroline St.
MINTY’s storefront is to the right of Subway in the Remax building across the street from Starbucks.

If you only have an item or two, feel free to drop in any time, using our walk-up window! We are open Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 3pm.
