What do you buy?
We buy all kinds of gold and silver, even if it’s broken, mismatched, or has been sitting in a drawer for decades.
Gold
- Broken or unworn gold jewellery, even single earrings and tangled chains
- Dental and medical gold
- Bullion, gold nuggets and gold from electronics
- Coins of all kinds, from Grandpa’s old coin collection to foreign coins with hidden value

- Sterling silver jewellery

Do you buy broken jewellery?
Yes. We buy broken, unworn and orphaned gold and silver jewellery, including earrings that are missing their pair.
What’s the difference between plated and sterling silver?
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Silver plate is a thin coating of silver over brass, copper or lead.
We buy sterling silver, but we don’t buy silver-plated items yet. Not sure which you have? Call us before you book, or email us a photo, and we’ll guide you. Silver-plated items can be recycled at AIM.

Can I use a magnet to test my jewellery?
Gold, silver and platinum aren’t magnetic. Many gold-plated pieces have a nickel or iron core, which is magnetic, so a magnet can help you spot them.
Keep in mind that some gold-plated pieces have a brass core, which isn’t magnetic, so a magnet won’t catch everything.
Selling with MINTY
What happens at an evaluation?
We test everything right in front of you using professional tools, including our XRF device for metal analysis. We explain each step as we go, with no rush and no pressure.
If you choose to sell, we pay you on the spot by cheque or e-transfer.
How do I get paid?
If you choose to sell, you’re paid on the spot by e-transfer or cheque. The choice is always yours.
Can I sell without leaving home?
Yes. With Pick Up & Pay, a MINTY advisor comes to you anywhere in Canada, or we send a free, insured courier to collect your items from your door. You’ll get a personalised offer within 24 hours of us receiving your items, with no obligation to sell.
Do I need to show ID to sell my items?
Yes. By law, you must be at least 18 years old and show a valid form of identification.
We respect your privacy and never share your information with anyone outside of MINTY. Your privacy is extremely important to us, and we do all we can to earn and protect that trust.
Can you remove the gemstones from my jewellery?
MINTY buys the gold and silver value only. We return gemstones to you if you’d like to keep them, or we can talk through a few other options that suit you best.
To repurpose your gemstones, we can refer you to local Burlington jeweller David Jockheck. For appraisals on higher-end pieces, you’re welcome to join our complimentary appraisal clinic.
Visiting us
Do I need to book an appointment?
If you have a number of items, we recommend booking an appointment. If you only have an item or two, feel free to drop in and use our walk-up window during shop hours.
Where are you located?
We’re in downtown Burlington at 496 Brant St, on the corner of Brant St and Caroline St. Our storefront is next to Subway in the RE/MAX building, across the street from Starbucks.
Free client parking is behind the building, with access from Caroline St.
